[ENGLISH - The year is 999]
The year is 999 and doom shall soon follow to this soil of fightful events. The missionary arrives after 2 years of struggle in the vivid world of the flying tongues in the summer at Þrándheimr, new home of the king. He tells Ólafr Tryggvason that Iceland is given to the one-eyed wargod of madness. Christ will never walk on that crumbling earth. Ólafr turns frantic, scolds the missionary and takes hostages of the black sand. Ólafr rises his hateful sword. And the descendents of this uncontrollable flock of Óðinn, shall soon meet the crushing sound of the raven's hunger. Your arms shall be chopped, your legs shall fall, your heads shall fly into the deep depths of the devil's mouth. Your hearts shall be given to Loki's consuming spawn and your sprinkling blood given to Vígi as he rips off your lacerated testicles. Guts will flow down Nið until your kin's fates are wiped away from God's kingdom of justice and order. Only Gizzur hvíti and Hjalti are able to cool the king's anger. A cold silence thrones over the king's words. No ship is able to set sail, no messenger arrives at the black shores. In the year 1000, Gizzur and Hjalti set sail with the priest Þormoðr to lead up north and arrive two weeks before Alþingi at the stormy southern isles, that once were inhabited by revolting slaves from the west. Here, at Hǫrgaeyrr they build a wooden church on formerly heathen ground, dedicated to holy Clemens. No silence awaits when they ride to the assembly and raise crosses. And the next day, Gizzur hvíti and Hjalti went to Lǫgberg, and announced their mission.

I feel like Doctor/Hillbilly is so niche but I really love the ship atm, may I rq some hcs of them mayb? 😔💕
[oo this is a rarepair if i’ve ever sen one! hope you like because i definitely got carried away!]
getting together fluff, some nsfw mentions at the end!
Herman X Max headcanons
Max has always admired the more authoritative killers, like Evan and Herman, while Herman has always mostly ignored Max. Herman is kind of a snob in that he values intelligence above all else, and just brushed Max off as an uneducated, well, hillbilly
Max isn’t stupid and is desperate to prove himself to Herman. This causes him to awkwardly approach the older man and request that he “Show Max how to make ‘em gennies sparkle an’ go boom”
Herman raises an eyebrow. The kid wants to learn how to overcharge a generator? It’s not an easy task and took Herman several weeks to perfect. Herman promises to get back to him later, causing a disappointed Max to wander off
Herman writes a numbered step-by-step idiot-proof guide to learning the technique, even throwing in a few rough sketches of the machines in case Max doesn’t know what some of the terms mean
When he finds Max and gives him the instructions with a smug grin, Max’s whole face lights up, until he looks at the papers and his smile drops into a disappointed frown. “Is something the matter?” Herman asks, prepared to give the young man a stern lecture for questioning his hard work. “Ah well, this ‘s mighty fine of ya Her--err, sir! Thanks!” Max drawls nervously before sprinting off with the papers
Herman doesn’t see Max for the next few days and assumes the scatter-brained youth gave up on learning altogether. He’s in the middle of complaining to Philip about Max squandering all his efforts, when Philip points out a crucial fact, “You know Max can’t read, right?”, and Herman feels like smacking himself in the face for not thinking of the possibility sooner
Herman swallows his pride and ventures to Coldwind farm to teach Max his technique the old-fashioned way, expecting to find the young man moping in a corner somewhere or perhaps making stick animals or whatever it is hillbillies do
Instead, he finds Max by the generator in the shed, hunched over and tinkering with the machine with papers scattered about the entire floor. “Hiya Herman!” Max greets him enthusiastically, wiping his oily hands on his overalls
“Max, what are you doing? What are these?” Herman questions and glances at the papers
“I did it! Look!” Max exclaims and gives the generator a solid kick, short-circuiting it and causing it to spark violently. “I uhh--I couldn’t read ya book, so I look’d at tha pictures ya drew an looked inside a genny to see wha I was s’posed ta do,” Max explains, gesturing to a pile of papers next to him where he’s--Herman inhales sharply in surprise--drawn pages upon pages of mechanical diagrams of the machines, pinpointing the exact locations the kick will impact!?
Herman is at a loss for words, completely taken aback by the other man’s resourcefulness and technical skill. He sees Max looking at him nervously, clearly awaiting some sort of response from his tutor. “Excellent work, boy. Would you like to accompany me in my next generator experiment?” Herman compliments and Max goes beet red and shuffles his feet awkwardly. “Tha’ would be mighty fine, sir.” Max mumbles
Max starts spending a lot of time in Herman’s office, assisting him with any research that requires a knack for machinery. Herman often visits Max’s tool shed in the farm, where they test many of his ideas and Max tinkers with the generator to troubleshoot for or fix any failures
Herman, recognizing and impressed by Max’s potential, demands the younger learn how to read so he can further participate in the research. Max is giddy at the prospect, but after a couple of disastrous attempts Herman admits he’s a lousy teacher and bribes Sally to teach Max by offering the redhead unlimited access to his office
Max is happy and making great progress with his reading, and Herman feels a strange sort of pride for his protege. That’s why it takes him completely by surprise when one day, Max decides to kiss him out of the blue. Herman pulls the man off of him and demands answers. “Just what do you think you’re doing!?” he asks sternly. “S-sorry! ‘S just, me an’ Sally were readin’ them books a-an I thought ‘s what people do, like them fellas Heathcliff an’ Cath’rine--”
“Of course Sally has you read that fictional garbage over the anatomy books I provided,” Herman sighs and runs a hand over his face in exasperation. “’M sorry Herman, Sally said ‘s what people do when ‘ey luv some’un,” Max explains, shuffling awkwardly. “Hold on. Love? Me?” Herman asks, voice uncharacteristically breaking into an even higher octave from the shock. Of all the stupid things--
“Ya! I luv ya,” Max says without hesitation, beaming. “And you want to kiss... me,” Herman clarifies, trying to wrap his head around this sudden turn of events. “Already did. An’ I wanna kiss ya more an’ do naughty things with ya in a hayloft,” Max cheerily remarks. Herman feels his brain short-circuit from the implications coming out of his seemingly innocent apprentice’s mouth. “Come ‘un, I ain’t dumb, I know wha Evan ‘n Phil dis’pear in tha woods fer,” Max grins with a slight blush.
Herman’s always been a quick thinker, so he manages to run through all possible outcomes of this scenario in his head. It’s stupid. He should reject Max. But he can’t say that he’s not intrigued, and seeing the kid’s enthusiasm... Herman finally just shakes his head fondly and allows himself to lean into Max’s personal space. “I know you’re anything but dumb, kid. I also don’t think you know what you’re getting yourself into,” he can’t suppress a dark chuckle, half expecting the younger to feel intimidated--
“Try me, pops,” Max challenges instead, grinning. “That’s it you little shit--” Herman has the time to give an idle threat before Max’s laughing mouth shuts him up with a kiss
It’s not the most healthy relationship as there’s a clear power imbalance but Herman is kind of a narcissist and gets off on it. Though he does genuinely care about Max, he’s not gentle and you’ll never hear him use the phrase “Are you sure?”
Max loves being praised both inside and outside the bedroom. Herman is stingy with his compliments, only giving them when he’s genuinely impressed, which makes them all the more special to Max
Max has a daddy kink ok I don’t make the rules. He doesn’t realize it and probably doesn’t even know what it means, but Herman is perceptive. When he takes a gander and urges Max to call him ‘daddy’ during one of their trysts he doesn’t expect it to do much of anything, but hearing his lover cry out the word and almost spill himself makes him realize it’s a control thing and now he’s very much on board
Herman tops at first, but once he sees Max’s enthusiasm and the younger learns to channel his energy, they fall into a habit of Max topping. Herman discovers himself to be a bit of a power bottom and begrudgingly admits that Max fucks better than him, making Max’s confidence soar
The other killers quickly find out about their relationship because Max can’t shut up about his adoration of Herman. They get some snide comments from the Legion brats and a blushing Amanda threatening Max to “Stop oversharing your fucking sex life or I’ll reverse beartrap your dick”, but nobody seems to really care what they do behind closed doors--with the exception of one
Evan is pissed, being somewhat of a father figure to Max and 1000% ready to bash in Herman’s skull for seemingly taking advantage of the younger, impressionable man. Max is upset a the accusations, Herman pretends to give a shit about Evan’s opinion because of Max, and eventually Philip and Sally have to get involved to calm Evan down, vouching for Herman’s non-sinister intentions and Max’s ability to make his own decisions
[i came up with max’s personality on the fly but i kind of love him now?? also i don’t know how old herman is but i always hc max as early twenties at most so have some age difference on the side]

The Virtue of Silence
Word Count: 1163
Warnings: None
Summary: Junkrat sets a world record by nearly ruining Valentine’s Day two entire weeks before it begins, and Ruby learns there’s just as much risk as there is reward to dating an unhinged convict with a bad case of never shutting up.
Ok so I wanted this to be a comic but I was too tired and it woulda taken too long and some other third excuse, so here’s a fic instead! I was going for a more light-hearted and silly tone, and while I don’t think I quite succeeded, I still had fun. I was also trying to write something less than 1000 words, but uh... I think it’s pretty clear I didn’t manage that. *looks off into the sun wistfully* Maybe some day...
Ruby plopped down on the couch, a bowl of spaghetti in one hand and the television remote in the other; usually she would be dining at the table across from her boyfriend, but Junkrat was out on yet another one of his heists. If she remembered correctly, he and his partner-in-crime Roadhog had ventured to Paris, but that was, unfortunately, all she knew. It was unusual for Junkrat not to share all the details of his latest schemes with her, and even though Roadhog had reassured her that he would be keeping the reckless Aussie safe, she still felt uneasy about not knowing exactly what kind of trouble the two would be getting into.
She flicked on the TV before tossing the remote aside and picking up her fork, twirling up a clump of spaghetti as a series of commercials played until at last, the program she wanted began.
“Tonight, on A Moment in Crime…”
Ruby knew that this particular show tended to keep up-to-date on criminal events, so if Junkrat and Roadhog had already finished their heist, she’d be sure to hear about it here. Sure enough, their mugshots appeared on screen, and Ruby perked her head up as she shoveled a forkful of spaghetti into her mouth.
The overdramatic narrator continued, “These notorious criminals have spread destruction and mayhem across the globe, but could the pyromaniac known as Junkrat… have his own romantic flame?”
Ruby froze mid-chew, her eyes going wide and spaghetti dangling from her mouth as she focused intently on the TV, praying that this story wouldn’t be going where she thought it might be. The screen changed to a video- with the unstable quality making it clear that it was recorded on a phone- that showed the two Junkers together at the outdoor seating of a cafe, with Junkrat in plain view and Roadhog sitting with his back to whoever was recording. Junkrat was mid-ramble about something, and as the audio cut in and Ruby heard his far-too familiar voice, she felt her blood run cold.
“-d’ya think, Hoggie? I just know that Roobs is gonna love this place!” Junkrat spoke far too loudly, not even noticing that he was being recorded. “It’s a bit posh f’me, but she’s been goin’ on about doin’ somethin’ special fer that whole Valee-Day thing, so I think I’m alright riskin’ looking like a tall poppy, long as I can get me girl ta smile!”
The audio lowered, and the narrator spoke over the video. “This footage, uploaded just hours ago, was taken at a shop outside the Cabaret Luna in Paris. The explosives-obsessed Junker seems to be discussing plans for a supposed date with an unknown person whom he refers to as ‘Rubes’. The criminal goes on to talk about methods of traveling to the city of love with this mysterious person, before the brave witness who uploaded the video is noticed. Viewers should be warned that the following footage may be frightening to some.”
The audio of Junkrat’s voice came back in. “-wish I could be up on the bird-boat with her, but I’m pretty sure I’ve made it on the no-fly list by now, heheh, so I guess we could just meet up here.” As he kept rambling, his eyes wandered towards the recorder until he made eye contact with the camera. He had to do a double-take before he finally noticed that he and Roadhog were being filmed, and the cheery grin on his face quickly turned into an angered scowl as he stood up in his chair and stomped his boot onto the table with his fists raised. “Oi, the fuck d’ya think you’re doin’, mate?!” Junkrat quickly reached down for his frag launcher, which was placed beside the chair he had previously been sitting in.
The video became incomprehensibly shaky as the person recording began to flee, repeating “merde” between panicked breaths as Junkrat shouted for them to “get the hell back here”, and the video stopped just as an explosion went off behind the recorder. The screen freeze-framed on the last second of footage and slowly zoomed in to create a dramatic effect as the narrator spoke up again. “The uploader luckily managed to escape by running into a neighboring store, but the footage they posted gives us a startling view into the personal life of these violent criminals.” The show cut back to a still shot of Junkrat from the video just presented as the narrator continued, “Is it possible that this wanted convict is actually involved in a romantic relationship? Is there someone out there insane enough to partner themselves with a pyromaniac like Junkrat? Or is this simply the delusional ramblings of a madman?”
The show cut back to Junkrat and Roadhog’s mugshots. “As always, if you have any information about these two dangerous men, or any knowledge of the unknown person, again, referred to as ‘Rubes’ in this video, please contact us today. Remember, crime doesn’t pay, but we-”
Ruby had to shut off the television before she could hear more. She stared forward blankly, her spaghetti weakly hanging from her pursed lips as she processed what she had just seen. She didn’t even have the energy to bite down, as all her brainpower was immediately going into panicking as hard as she could. She wondered if this was how omnics felt when they short-circuited; her mind was just piling one bad thought on top of another, leading to a never-ending wave of fear washing over her. Damn that man and his big mouth…
***
“Oh, Roooobs!” Junkrat shouted as he burst through the front door to Ruby’s apartment, throwing down his frag gun and the sack of stolen goods in his hand as he held his arms out expectantly, waiting for his girlfriend to run from around the corner and jump right into his arms as she had always done before. Instead, he saw her slowly move out from the kitchen with her arms crossed as she leaned her shoulder against the wall.
“Welcome back, Jamison,” Ruby spoke in an alarmingly calm tone with a nearly unreadable, but clearly unhappy expression.
Junkrat immediately broke into a cold sweat at the use of his full name as Ruby stared him down. “Er…” he put his arms down just a bit, “i-is there somethin’ wrong, sweets?”
Ruby simply glared at him harder, making him panic and hunch down as he looked at the floor and nervously rubbed his hand. What the hell had he done? Did he forget to say goodbye before he left? Had he eaten the last of one of her favorite snacks and put the empty box back? Did he leave the toilet seat up?
“So,” Ruby said, “you go to any nice cafes while you were in Paris?”
Junkrat snapped his head back up as his eyes went wide. “How did you know?”
Ruby rubbed her face and sighed. “Jamie, my dear. We need to discuss the importance of thinking before you speak…”
#don't worry things turned out ok#i just rly like the idea of the media trying to poke their noses in me and jamie's relationship#like lemme love my crazy bf in peace wow#hope the end doesnt come off as too mean hfjshxb#ruby's writing#self shipping#self ship community#oc x canon#fictional other#self shipping community#💜: blushing bomb crush#🐷

Who You Callin’ Snowflake?: Report from Mar-A-Lago
Anonymous Contributor | IT'S GOING DOWN | March 6th 2017
The post Who You Callin’ Snowflake?: Report from Mar-A-Lago appeared first on IT'S GOING DOWN.
Palm Beach County—like most of South Florida—is a disgusting display of riches and glamour. But all that glitters is definitely not gold (and what’s so great about gold anyway). If one looks closer they can see the corruption, poverty, and violence that allow the rest to occur. Although the county voted overwhelmingly Democrat (which means tons of middle-to-upper-class liberals), we are also home to the Mar-a-Lago golf resort, also known as the ‘Winter White House,’ outside of which, Trump supporters tailgate every single weekend along with a number of high profile white supremacists. Protesting are a solid amount of anarchists, communists, and other radical folks.
In PBC, the response to the election result was quick and solid. Three...
days after election day, a few thousand people—unforeseen numbers for the area—gathered in downtown West Palm Beach. Although the majority of the crowd chanted about how Hilary was actually president or asked “what does democracy look like,” as peace police tried to make sure no one caused any inconvenience to the police or other citizens. However, there were enough radicals to eventually convince around 1000 people to take the streets and march through an area where drunk hipsters were enjoying overpriced IPAs and vegan pizza.
Since then, however, the liberals have tightened their grip. They have bigger networks, more access to social media, and work with the police. I won’t go into detail here, because any radical fighting anything anywhere has probably run into the liberal problem. I’ll say this though: it got so bad that a march with 3,500 people that planned to show up at Trump’s house ended up—because of requests from the police department—not leaving the sidewalk, obeying all traffic signals, and not actually crossing the bridge that leads to the island where the scumbag lives. After much conversation amongst ourselves and larger groups, we decided that there were a number of ways to approach the situation. It was bad enough having to fight law enforcement and neo-Nazis, we didn’t have the energy to also be constantly arguing and fighting with liberals and their peace police. The tactics we chose to try out first were making the FB event page before them and having dialogue with the liberal “leaders.”
Within 24 hours a liberal had copied the page—pictures and all—and added that it’s a peaceful event and that we would be working with the local police and secret service to make sure nothing bad happens.
When we found out that March 4 was deemed March 4 Trump day, and that an event was planned in our backyard, we got on it. The page we made called for folks to confront the Trump supporters and that’s it—no mention of working or not working with the police, nothing said about violence or nonviolence. Within 24 hours a liberal had copied the page—pictures and all—and added that it’s a peaceful event and that we would be working with the local police and secret service to make sure nothing bad happens. The next ten days leading up to the event were filled with Facebook arguments and face to face meetings.
In the end, most of the liberals seemed convinced that any violence would be on the part of the police or Trump supporters and that confrontation is a necessary step. Those that didn’t agree had the option of staying home or protesting at a different location, about a half a mile from where the Trumpettes were gathered. We also attended one of their “protests” the week before and handed out fliers about consensus organizing and what it means to be an anarchist and were invited to one of their meetings where we pitched the idea of giving the liberals some direct action training.
With less than 48-hours to go before the big march, we were alerted to a speaking event with Marco Rubio, Rick Scott, and Donald Trump, happening at a hotel within walking distance for most of the radicals in PBC. We hastily organized an event and it was quickly shared by all the liberals and their groups. We crossed our fingers. About fifteen to twenty anarchists showed up, each of us carrying a megaphone or some kind of musical instrument and we were rowdy. A crowd of about 40 liberals was gathered on the opposite side of the small, two lane, island road, holding signs and watching us. Two old men with Trump hats stood 100-feet down the road and two beefy undercover cops were mingling with the crowds. Right off the bat, we were told by the Palm Beach Police that we were on private property. We were on a public road, which we made known to the cop. Him and two of his buddies kept repeating, “This is private property, please move to the other side of the road,” while we ignored them, dodging their attempts to corral us, and chanting less and less friendly slogans. This would normally be the time where the liberals begin to shout at us to stop provoking the police, follow the laws, and be peaceful. This time though, they cheered for us and didn’t try at all to discourage our activities.
The reaction of the liberals was mixed—some demanded her immediate release and an end to the repression, some were thankful that it “wasn’t worse,” and others remained silent…
Eventually backup came and we were grossly outnumbered—for just over fifty protesters, the state responded with over 75 law enforcement officers. They slowly but surely forced us across the street to where the liberals were standing. Some of us resisted and the reaction of the cops was disgusting. When a male presenting person refused to get off the streets, the riot squad would get in his face and yell. When a female presenting person did the same, cops would get very handsy. One female protester took exception to the assaults and tried to escape; she was surrounded by police and secret service and forcefully arrested. The reaction of the liberals was mixed—some demanded her immediate release and an end to the repression, some were thankful that it “wasn’t worse,” and others remained silent or chanted about democracy or the need for a leader and not a silly tweeter. When the riot squad got bigger and demanded that we move south 1000 feet to make room for the president’s motorcade, most of the radicals stepped to the back of the group because of tiredness and concern for our arrested friends (we had since learned that another friend had been taken into custody by the secret service). It was encouraging to spend the next fifteen minutes watching the faces of the liberals as the police pushed and threatened senior citizens and members of the media with violence and chemical weapons.
No one else was arrested and eventually the crowd mostly dispersed. Thanks to the precision of skill of our police liaison, both of our friends were released without being taken to jail—one got a traffic summons and the other only a mark on her permanent record. The ACLU has offered to help both of them. By the time I got home there were already numerous comments on our Facebook event page, mostly from liberals, and all positive. We were stoked (and slightly nervous) about the next day.
The next day our people drove in from all over the state—as far as 5 hours away—and psyched ourselves up for what was to take place. A scout had informed us that there were at least 100 Trump supporters on the island and that they were blasting music, drinking beer, and being quite rowdy. Despite reservations on social media, in real life the majority of the folks gathered were more than down to cross the bridge and confront the ignorant pieces of shit waiting on the other end. We already knew the cops were on their side, because of the fact that they were allowed to march in the street and hang out on the island, while we were—week in and week out—told that if we stepped off the sidewalk or tried to cross the bridge, we would be teargassed. Still, we gathered our courage and walked into the belly of the beast.
There’s no way to aptly describe the atmosphere on Bingham Island. I’ve never been to a KKK rally or white supremacist luncheon, but I imagine there would be similarities between the three. As soon as we got over the bridge people began yelling at us. They called us snowflakes (which I still don’t understand) and anarchists and told us their feelings about Obama. Often they would call us anarchists and Obama supporters in the same sentence. When I tried to point out the contradictions in this statement, a man in a leather jacket with “fuck Obama” written on the back, grabbed his crotch and repeatedly squeezed it. For about 45 minutes we yelled back and forth with the increasingly belligerent racists, then we decided to up the ante.
Being led by a giant banner, we pushed our way across the street and into the throngs of enemies. Immediately we were surrounded; for every one of us, there were at least 7 or 8 American flag waiving, Make America Great Again wearing, bullshit spouting, ignoramuses screaming in our faces. When any of us would try to engage one of them in a reasonable discussion, we were immediately shouted down with cries of, “Weh, I need a safe space,” or “Ohhh, you snowflakes are so sensitive,” or simply chants of “USA” or “Trump.” When one, inches from my face, called me a fascist over and over again. I calmly asked him what his definition of a fascist is. His reply? “You.” When I let him know that in my opinion he wasn’t very good at words, and he should stop using one’s he doesn’t understand, he told me, “Fuck you. How’re those fer some words.” After this and many other pointless conversations, one friend getting smacked in the face, and much pushing, we decided to cross back to the other side.
Police stopped traffic for us to cross, but halfway there we were swarmed by Trump supporters and ended up stuck in the middle of the road for about 15-30 seconds. Cops were there post-haste; they separated us, pushed us to the side, and then let all the protesters know that if we blocked traffic again we would be arrested for trespassing. When we feebly pointed out the double standard (as Trump supporters were constantly crossing the street and blocking traffic without permission) we were ignored. When we asked the police why they were standing in front of our sign, while not harassing the Trump supporters who were being violent, we were again ignored. If there was any doubt left who’s side the police were on, it was cleared up a few minutes later.
There were three dudes, probably in their early 20’s, who were throwing up white power signs at us from across the street for about an hour. Eventually they came over to our side and asked us why we didn’t want to be friends. We called them white supremacists. They told us they were only joking. Then they asked if we liked Jews. We began ignoring them again, and when I turned around to check up on them a few minutes later, they were standing about casually joking with one of the cops. After all four of them fist-bumped, they went their separate ways and we took photographs of all of them.
Minutes later, those of us remaining decided to call it a day. There were no arrests, no major injuries, and it appeared that we snagged a few liberals. Going forward we must build on this. Even if only 10% of the liberals join us for 10% of our actions, that would mean hundreds of extra people escalating the fight. This is a war and we are on the front lines; wars are not won with silent sign holding or writing letters to your so-called representatives. At the very least we hope that we can do our thing, the liberals can do theirs, and we can figure out some way to not fight each other in public.

#607 16 year old SAURABH Chaudhary grabbed a 24 CARAT gold medal in 10m Air Pistol event; Vinesh Phogat writes her own script for Dangal sequel movie as she becomes first Indian women wrestler to grab gold in Asian games; Deepak , Sanjeev , Divya Sharan, Abhishek also win medals to take Indian medal tally to 6; Indian sport fans google for WUSHU and SEPAKTAKRAW as India either win or have assured medal in these 2 events; Djokovic completes tally of all 9 MASTERS 1000 series wins with 24th career win over Federer; VIRAT Kohli bats like a superstar and Bumrah bowls with lot heart to give India a brilliant chance to win a test in England and more.. :-)
India played 2nd innings with more composure. KL Rahul started with a bang with almost run a ball 36. He was dismissed by Stokes. India 60-0. This was the first time since 1986 that Indian team had 50+ opening partnership in both the innings of a test. Dhawan was good till he went slogging. He was stumped by Rashid. India 111-2. Both Indian openers had chance to make big score but missed the opportunity. Kohli joined Pujara. Things started getting much better for India. bOth brought up fifties. They were hardly troubled. Pujara was dropped later but made a gritty 81. He also could have scored a century but perished to Stokes. He and Kohli had 113 run stand. Kohli rushed to 90s, got lucky when he was dropped by Jennings on 93. He eventually made his century. He was dismissed soon after by Woakes for a brilliant 103. Like first test, he made 200 runs in a test. Hope results will be in favor of India this time. Pandya then hit some lusty blows to take India’s lead past 500. India eventually declared at 352-7. England needed 521 to win. 189 overs were left in the match. England negotiated 9 overs in Day 3 with ease. On Day 4, Ishant started on fire as he dismissed Jennings in very first over and Cook 2 overs later. England 32-2. Pope and Root were shaky but lasted 13 odd overs before Bumrah got the better or Root. Rahul caught it brilliantly in slip. In very next over, Shami dismissed Pope. England 62-4. England looked done and dusted. Had Pant caught Butler, it could have been 65-5. Pant moved wrong direction too quickly and couldn’t grab a tough chance. As it happens most of the times, batsman made India pay for it. He and Stokes looked hardly troubled there after. England reached lunch at 84-4. Post lunch, Kohli over bowled Bumrah and Ashwin. They looked ineffective. They reached tea at 174-4. Shami was getting reverse swing but England batsman negotiated it well. Of first 68 overs, Kohli just gave 6 obvers to Pandya who grabbed 5 fer in first innings. It is a shocker. He over bowled Ishant and Bumrah. This is something which Dhoni used to do. Cant understand the logic when captains do such crazy things. Last time when Kohli had scored a century and a 90 odd was in Wanderers. He had century stand in 2nd innings with Pujara there too. ABD and Du Plessis almost won the match chasing 430 odd. Wil history repeat itself? India badly needed a breakthrough and there was hardly any sign of it. India never win a test with comfort. They always make it hard for themselves which is what was happening now? Can England end day at say 300-4? Match could take an interesting turn if it happens. They took England past 200 and even had 150 plus stand. Butler brought up his maiden test century in the process. Kohli looked worried and frustrated. When captain shows that, wheels start coming off? One bowler had to take stand and create magic ball. India waited for new ball. Butler didn’t offer stroke to Bumrah in cutter. He was plumb in front. As it happens most of times, one wicket follows another. Bairstow was castled of the very next ball. Woakes hit a boundary of hatrick ball. But Bumrah got the better of him in his next over. Woakes was out to short ball again. In next over Pandya dismissed Stokes with a beauty. England were reduced to 241-8 from 231-4. Bumrah dismissed Rashid in his next over but it turned out to be a no ball. Bumrah had a few nightmares with no ball but this was not that critical as India were firm favorites to win and Rashid was no top order batsman. Rashid hit a few lusty blows to frustrate Indian team further. Surprisingly, Bumrah never tried his special Yorkers on Rashid. Kohli dropped Rashid of Shami’s bowling. They even had 50 run stand. Bumrah eventually grabbed his 5th wicket as he dismissed Broad. Rahul caught his 7th catch for the match(same as Pant). Rashid and Anderson survived remaining overs of the day. England ended day 4 at 311-9. Had Bumrah not bowled that no ball, India could have won by now. Instead, India need to come on final day to take final wicket. This was the first match in test history that all top 5 batsman have scored in double digit in all 4 innings.
In Cincinnati Open, Djokovic had lost 5 times in the finals and 3 times to his 2018 opponent Federer. Djokovic got the better of him this time winning it 6-4. Djokovic won the first set with only 1 break of serve. In 2nd set, Federer took 2-0 lead only to be broken back immediately. Djokovic won the set 6-4 and the match. He thereby became the only player to win all 9 masters 1000 series titles. Djokovic is back and would be hot favorite for this year’s US open.
Day 2 belonged to Vinesh Phogat who became India’s first women wrestler to win gold in Asian games. In Rio Olympics , Vinesh had got injured against China’s Sun Yanan in QF. She faced the same opponent in pre QF in Asian games. She dominated the match to win it. In QF and SF, she just lost 2 points. In finals she outclassed Japan's Yuki Irie 6-2 to win the 50kg final in Jakarta and was then hoisted on the shoulders of team staff draped in the Indian flag. Other wrestlers like Pooja and Sakshi disappointed as they reached SF but lost Bronze match. Deepak Kumar won the silver medal in men’s 10m air rifle event after producing excellent scores at crucial junctures. Deepak shot 247.7 to finish second on the podium behind China’s Haoran Yang, who won the top prize with a Games record 249.1 at the JSC Shooting Range of this port city.
16 year Saurabh Chaudhary who created world record in 10 m Air Pistol event in Junior world cup recently outclassed former Asian and Olympic medalist 42 year old Matsuda from japan. Sandeep had score of 240.7 as against 239.7 by Matsuda. Abhishek Verma grabbed Bronze. Sanjeev Rajput, 37, looked set for the gold before having a modest standing series in the 50 3 positions rifles final. It was the first individual medal for the former Navy man at the Asian Games, having won team medals in the previous three editions. Indian team won bronze in sepaktakraw which was a pleasant surprise. India's wrestler Divya Kakran wins bronze medal in women's freestyle 68kg defeating Chinese Taipei's Chen Wenling 10-0. India beat Thailand 49-3 vs Thailand in Kabaddi. They are assured of SF spot. Santosh Kumar and Sanda are assured of Bronze medal in Wushu as they reach SF. Rohan Bopanna reached QF in both mens doubles (Divij Sharan) and mixed doubles(Ankita Rani). Indian mens and womens team were knocked out in team badminton event in QF by Japan and Indonesia respectively. This came as a huge disappointment. Indian mens hockey team beat Indonesia 17-0.Indian womens team went a step ahead and beat Kazakhstan 21-0.

Summer holidays – whistle stop list of ideas
Can you believe the summer holidays are upon us? Where has the year gone… we’re the same every year, it suddenly gets to this point and bam, here we are! To help inspire days out, this is a whistle stop tour of the places we’ve filed away to visit at some point during the next few weeks. Some are old favourites and some are new discoveries….
National Trust places – the membership cards will be well used as we visit our favourites: Polesden Lacey, Chartwell, Nymans, Standen, Petworth, Bodiam Castle and Emmetts Garden. Perfect places to spend a couple of hours to a whole day. Pick up a packed lunch and meet friends, we absolutely love spending time in all of these places!
Hever Castle jousting tournaments are taking place during most weekends over the summer holidays, the children will love seeing real life knights on their horses!
The Look Out Discovery Centre at Bracknell has a Dino Show on until September as well as the hands on science exhibition and play areas so a day can easily be spent here!
Wakehurst – Wild Kids which has a weekly schedule of activities so you can visit multiple times and experience different things. From climbing trees to woodland potions, it sounds great.
Narnia Walk at Banstead Woods which brings beautiful wooden sculpted figures to this lovely area to walk in.
Gatwick Aviation Museum with the chance to see planes close up and even view the large ones from the main airport from the viewing point – super fun for children!
The beach! We love Brighton, Littlehampton, Ferring, Dymchurch, Margate, Birchington and Camber Sands
Denbies – loads of different things to do! Crafts, Teddy Bear nature trail train ride, Punch and Judy, Disco to name a few!
The local wildlife trusts have plenty to do over the summer in all our areas:
Surrey Wildlife Trust – forest school inspired adventures, wild tots, explorers and mini beasts and microscopes
Sussex Wildlife Trust – several family focused events, including Undersea Adventures, Rockpool Ramblers and Minibeasts
Kent Wildlife Trust – mini beasts, campfires and crafts, ponds and prints, rock pooling and Stick Man. Heaps of choice for fun with the children!
Thomas the Tank Engine at Tenterden – for all the young train spotters out there!
Kew Gardens Science Festival for games, interactive experiments and talks for budding scientists. We love Kew, it’s such a stunning place to visit.
Stanmer House – Country House Festival with a fairy hollow story area, marquee with rainy day activities, kids yoga, pottery and painting.
Trails and Tales at Gatton Park, Wednesdays and Fridays in the summer hols, where the outdoor adventure centres around a book, creating things linked to the story. The beautiful backdrop makes this a great place to spend an hour or so.
Dinosaur Island Play area, Southwater – a brilliant themed playground with the benefit of a nearby lake to splash in when things get too hot!
Tilgate Park – picnic and visit the animals – we especially love the meerkats!
Wilderness Wood, Hadlow Down, East Sussex – camping, walks, beautiful countryside!
We hope this list offers you some ideas so you can get planning for the next few weeks with the children. If you have some cracking places to suggest that we’ve not featured here, please let us know, we’d love to see them.
Most of all, have a fantastic summer!
If you’re thinking of selling or letting your home, our team would love to chat on 0330 223 1000.
